It seems an odd concept that major learning topics should not be presented in synchronous discussions. This is how it is often done in an in-person class. I do understand giving students the study materials in advance of discussions. I am still pondering this topic.

I already post an instructor bio and ask each student to post a bio. i plan to add a teacher-student discussion. 

The importance of course structure and technical fluidity of the LMS. Make sure all support links function. 

Add interactive activities to engage students and gauge learning progress.

Provide supportive comments on student submissions.
