This module taught me the importance of not dwelling on perfection when initially teaching. Learning about some of the common mistakes first time instructors make helped to reduce some of the concerns that I had about managing the classroom. Also, learning students’ names to make them acknowledged and respected.

I think it’s essential to address any issues at the onset to avoid further problems down the road. Reminding students of the course policies and being consistent and fair with all students will avoid being overwhelmed by disruptive students.

When addressing challenging students, I’ve learned that it’s best to address it right away by first assessing if it’s something with your instructional style that’s causing the issues. If not, then address each student individually and ask for their feedback about the course and then collaborate about how to make the course more engaging.

It’s important that students have a good understanding of what they’re doing in the classroom and how it can be applied to working in the field. I’ve also learned that it is necessary to establish firm boundaries with certain policies to avoid losing control of the classroom.

I think it’s essential to gain a good understanding of how the class retains information and then adjust the instruction method accordingly.

It’s important for instructors to get to know their students as much as possible to gain a better understanding of they learn.

I’ve learned that it’s important to be prepared and organized to maximize student outcomes.
