The online course should be continually evolving based on student evaluations and other data that drives improvement.  Closing the loop is imperative for learning.  There are several tools for revision and reflection that enhance effective devlopment of online course, in addition to stakeholders.

I do like the idea of peer evaluations.  I have used them in the classroom but struggled with students not providing constructive criticism.  Instead, giving thier peer the highest ratings.  I think it takes time to educate the useage of peer evaluations with high school students and think it would be a challenge through an online course.

It was reiterated to me to give insghtful thought to feedback to continue learning and not justify the rubirc.  I was also reminde of the specific examples between formataive and summative assessments as well as how to effectivley use each.  I use rubircs for assignments with my interns but sometimes feel the interns do not read them as evidenced by the product that is submitted (leave items out)

The method of communication is important and should ultimately progress learning.  It is also important to clearly explain communication methods in the syllabus to avoid delaying progress and learning.  The syllabus should be dynamic  and interactive.  As I review my on-line platform for my class, I will increase my awareness of implementing each of these points in my development.

I have learned several things:  1)  Consistency is key to ensure easy flow and awareness of expectatios. 2).  The course framework has to be tested and revised and is cyclical. 3).  To save time, items used can be stored in one place. 4) Modules are set up differently (in chunks, by date, etc).

Teaching students is teaching students no matter the platform.  It's doing what's best for students.  The same techniques apply:  Communication in all forms; must be genuine, encouraging, consistent, organized and effective.   Knowing students:  Virtual learning may increase time in getting to know the students, but it is still applicable as it helps avoid alienation and creates a realtionship tht fosters learning.  Behavior Management--learning to engage those that are avoiding the e-learning environment, learning to manage the dominate participants  Conflict Management , Policies & Procedures.

It was good to gain a better understanding of synchronous and asynchronous techniques.  I have been engaged as a learner in asynchronuos meetings and have seen the value in this type of learner.  As an on-line facilitator I would use this method as it has been proven to engage learners consistently and effectively.  I liked the information on the different types of learners for e-learning.  I currently house assignments in Canvas for my interns that I oversee,  I have a few avoidant participants.  I will use the strategies provided moving forward.

It has been reiterated of the importance of developing a relationship with learners participating in virtual learning.  I have learned to be a facilitator and let learning occur through assignments and discussion among the learners.  Sharing a short bio of myself and my expectations for the course can impact the ease of e-learning and provide assurance to the learners that I am knowledgeble of best practices of virtual learning.  If I ever teach a 100% on-line course, I will definitely apply the suggestions in this module. I think they are the foundation of success for both the teacher and learner.… >>>

In being an on-line facilitator/teacher, one must investigate the intricacies of the platform that is chosen to deliver content.  He/she must have a deep understanding of the processes and functions to set-up and be successful in delivering content to the learner.  He/she must also choose a platform and interactive assignments to keep the learner engaged.  An orientation for learners as well as organized structure should be in place to minmiize frustration in working within the e-learning environment.
