Mystery Shoppers, From what I see, I believe that our Admissions Staff preforms a great job. If a mystery shopper was to come into our school I could only hope that the information collected would meet all standards set by our Home Office.
If it wasn't for our internal customers, the instructors here would be at a loss. There are many times we rely on our internal customers (Student Services, F/A, Accounting, ect.) and not even realize what is going on. The instructor staff here does appreciates our internal customers.
External Customers are just has important has the students. The reason is because if the students cannot seek employment then why would they show up for school to start.
Customer service is simple. Treat people like you want to be treated. In our adult education, people come from large versified background with life experience. Must of our students, you give them an outstanding product (Knowledge) with respect makes great customer service. On the down side though, you mistreat the customer (the student) you now have poor customer relations.

Active Learning includes getting their hands on it early. One of the things that I like to do is having taken a part engines to see all of the content. Once the student has seen the internals of the engine it make class time go easier and smoother.

Active Learning; me personally I like active learning because I learn the same way. I like using training aids that fit subject matter and put them in the student hands. The students get a better concept of the items of discussing because they get to hold them.

Classroom Discipline, after reading some of the comments left in the forum I realize I am not the only one with issues of students talking. Depending on the class is how I approach how I handle them. I loud class I speak with a soft voice. Student will naturally be quite so they can hear what I need to tell them. Students who like to sit in the back of the class that think they are the cool kids, I tell them one day one, if they want to talk during class time that they can go outside when ever… >>>

Open ended question are great! I enjoy using them because it makes the student think. Part of my job is to make the student apply themselves and open ended questions are the way to do so.

I always try to set the stage for my students. When the students see what the class really is going to contain and how they will learn, it usually will keep them interactive.

I enjoyed ED108 because it renforces the fact that I am allowed to teach out side the box and allow students to open their minds and think for themselves. I see other instructors doing what I call pour and snor. The instructor pours and the students snor. When my students come into the room they know they better be ready to go.
