It's okay to show your students that you're human if a mistake is made. Take notes about what works and doesn't- learn from them. Adjust things accordingly and be okay not being perfect.

Monitoring student behavior will aide in resolving an issue before it even occurs. Be attentive but firm with students. Provide a listening ear and appropriate support.

This model has provided me with tricks to keep all students engaged and the importance of addressing all students both quiet and vocal. Also, the importance to keep the rules enforced, and to hold accountability.

Set clear expectations for the class from day one. Be concise and stick to what you say.

Being comfortable in the subject and practicing delivery is important. To keep the students engaged, shorter lectures and activities or examples of real-world scenarios are key. Also, making sure all learning styles are being met throughout class is important.

When starting a new term/class it is important on the first day to establish what is expected of the students during the entirety of the term, from assignments to behavior. It is also important to explain my role and what is expected of myself as the instructor. Let them get to know me and me to know them.

Proper planning and time management is very important for creating a successful learning environment for students. If the instructor is unorganized the material taught will be too. Giving students a clear concise expectation for what to expect will also benefit them.

Being a new instructor, I have learned a lot in my 6 weeks of training but have so much more to go. I am the knowledge bank that they will learn not only the career curriculum from but will also model the professional standards. It is important to keep them engaged while they learn but to also have patience while they do so.
