It is neccessary to have a set onboarding process for new instructors just as it is to continue to develop exisiting instructors.

 

Both quantitative and qualitative measurements need to be implace with a focus on what made students successful rather than what went wrong.

 

The onboarding process for new hires needs to actively use the current LMS for that institution and be broken down into steps as to not overwhelm the instructors. It is also important when having instructors in different states to understand the employment laws of that state as they compare to the institution's policies.

 

I have learned that having a curated online presence is a great resource for networking and recruiting.

 

I have learned it is important to be thouroght in your responses during the self study. Do not be afraid to share your weaknesses but include your plan to correct them.

This section relays the importance of fully responding to every criteria even if it doesn't apply to your institution. Also, it stresses the importance of answering how you comply and not just that your institution complies with the standard.

I have learned how the language of the federal guidelines is left intentionally vague so that the accrediting agencies have room to interpret them based on the needs of the institutions they govern. It is important, therefore, to not only understand the federal guidelines but also the interpretations of the accrediting agency for your institiution.

I have learned an overview of the accreditation process aw well as differences in the various types of acrrediting agencies.
