Activity

Student involvement and engagement are the keys to active learning. SO TRUE!

Loved reading that by incorporating active learning techniques that it can offer students additional opportunities to build and test their knowledge.

I liked how they noted that the core elements of active learning activities were that students must read, write, discuss, reflect or be engaged in problem solving. And further, that there' are many different strategies that can work in both small and large group projects or individual activities.

Keeping activities fresh and timely helps the students retain an insterest and by bringing in integrative approaches keeps that momentum movig forward.

At this level/stage in their educational journeys, enabling the students to fine tune their critical thinking skills is vital.

Whether online or in-person, it is such a challenge to ensure that students aren't multi-tasking. A good work-a-round is to break them up into group assignments with a requirement to report back with outcomes.

Involving each student in the conversation/activities is key to ensuring that they are engaged, present, feel part of the class community  and are gettng the most out of each session.

Being able to learn from home without having to add-on commute time as well as expenses (i.e. parking, gas, etc.) are definite outlayer benefits to online learning. However, being online versus in-person requires more from the students. For example, they need to learn to tune out the home distractions / noise as well as take a more proactive approach to with their learning.
