I am a counselor so the importance of building rapport is one of the most important components when dealing with anyone. Especially someone who has gone through such trauma.

I am the 504 coordinator at our school so I am knowledgeable about the 504 and IEP process. I did really appreciate that even though a person cannot have an IEP past high school, it's important that they speak with their instructors and let them know the accommodations they have received in high school.

I feel that it is always so important to understand where someone is coming from. The rapport you build with a person and knowing some history about them will always help in knowing how to deal with them. So if they have had an accident and suffered TBI or are coming from a traumatic background.

I find it interesting how the definition of PTSD has changed over the years. I am so happy that it is now taken very seriously. The stats on children under the age of 5 suffering from PTSD is alarming.
