On the first week of classes students should be supported and made to feel comfortable in there new setting. 

Faculty engagement with students is important it is all of our jobs to make them feel comfortable, and we should have discussion points of where we came from and why we are here to help them. 

we should be very aware that a student's first day is a scary one and we should be open and approachable to ensure they have a good experience 

It is a very good practice to understand your students' goals and understanding each student as an individual and to also have the student engage with current students and to ensure all staff members are engaged with the students and their needs
