Activity

From this section, I have learned that hybrid courses could be useful in my area of teaching. Having both online and in-person class could really benefit the students. For instance, by having online assignments the students are able to work at their own pace and focus on what is trying to be taught. Versus trying to complete the assignment within a class period where they may feel rushed and are least likely to put in effort.

Through this section I learned that I need to do more than just lectures and skill practice with my students. I need to create more activities to keep the students moving and actively engaged in learning. They need to stay excited in order to learn and, therefore, I need to make changes to my teaching methods in order to meet all the needs of each student.

Passive learning should be combined with active learning. Passive learning should be a mixture of creative and structured instruction. There needs to be more interaction with information and ideas in order to keeps students engaged. As an instructor it is also vital to get students to critical think and apply what they are doing/learning to real-life.

I learned the importance of promoting active learning. Often times I find it easier to just teach a concept, but by encouraging students to become more active and searching for the answer. Then reporting back to me, may be the better option.
