Activity

In this module I learned about what it means to be a facilitator and how that differs from the being knowledgeable as a Scholar in your particular field.

breaking down lectures into 10-15 block increment is helpful for keeping class engaged.

This module encouraged me to take my time on the first time to set the environment and course expectations. The first day can be cause be filled with nervousness and anxiousness for students.

I learned that arriving before class time is a great way to be more prepared, it allows for a time to read the room and engage with the students as they are coming in, and it set the tone of professionalism.

I learned that as an instructor we are a role model, how we present ourselves to the students is important because it set the tone for what to expect.

This module was helpful for me as a new instructor to be more prepared to help student with learning abilities and help guide them on the path towards success.

In this module tips on how to support students who are either new English Language learners and or students who are not at a 12th grade reading or writing level.

I learned that monitoring students is a good method to determine how students are engaging in class, do they look bored, lost or distracted, this also will help the instructor notice any "little fires" in the classroom which can be addressed sooner.  Also keeping eye contract to 2-3 seconds to make them feel seen and noticed but avoid eye contact for longer than 5 seconds as this can make a student feel uncomfortable or they feel that they are being started at. Another point that I will be using in my classroom is how to group student for formal or… >>>

I learned that taking short breaks and pausing for a few seconds is helpful for student since the average attention span for an adult is roughly 12-14 minutes.  Using statements such as " Today I will be teaching you about 5 methods for communication" are great ways to engage your students to listen while presenting new information. Lastly, repeatedly reinforcing the same information in different ways and allowing for a time of application increases the probability of students actually remembering new information.
