Activity

Prepare early, have a game plan for how class will run, prepare extra material and take notes about what went right and what went wrong. I think these tips will help things run smoothly and anything that didn't go as planned can be problem solved and a new plan can be put in place.

When managing a student's poor behavior having them engage in a task to lodge a complaint is helpful.  Have a policy in place for lodging complaints, have them write down the complaint. When they speak to you about the complaint you take notes.  I think these are good suggestions to allow the student to think critically about their complaint and calm them down.  Also, listen to what they are saying and ask for their idea of a resolution, that will make them feel heard and is a good starting point to moving toard a resolution.

Being observant from day 1 is helpful to determine who may need encouragement, who needs to be reigned in and who might be manipulative.  Realizing these things early allows intervention that can help the students all progress and keep the class moving forward.

The syllabus needs to be clear and expectations need to be set up front to set to tone of the course.

Test preparation is an important aspect to think about. The types of questions chosen for each testing experience have specific uses and can serve different purposes.

This module had a few components that will be beneficial to employ in the classroom.  Soft skills I feel are very important to imbed in the curriculum.  Sometimes these soft skills are more important than the program curriculum when it comes to being a productive member of a team.  Also using CAT assessments to monitor student knowledge to help evaluate what the students know and what may need to be reinforced.

Questions can be phrased and sculpted to illicit specific types of responses.  This can be a valuable teaching technique to improve comprehension.

I have gained knowledge about the characteristics of each leaning style and the type of activities that would appeal to each learner.  Incorporating activities from each style will help students to grasp the concepts without leaving anyone behind.
