I learned about what to look for when forming committees, prospecting for individuals that have an interest, are available and committed to the work, have the character and skills to lead as chair. Forming a database to pull potential chairs, co-chairs and members serving on the committee. To recruit people that are results oriented, have strong organizational skills, willing to take charge and posses a clear idea of the what the purpose and mission is for the committee.

It is a beneficial, reciprocal relationship for colleges and employers to collaborate together.

The information breakdown for 1. Inspire and motivate, 2. Innovate and tailor, 3. Understand an employer needs and build knowledge and 4. Collaborate are pertinent to building relationships with employers.

I learned the difference between service based and mission based approach when interacting with employers, learn about the company, actively listen to their needs, focus on the organization's feedback and needs.

When engaging employers, using the five-part framework including advising, capacity building, co-designing, convening and leading can create successful relationships with the employers and the community while serving the institution.
