This course confirmed Knowles Theory of Adult learning by providing the four principles of Androgogy followed by the 4 Rs; 1) Respectful relationships; 2) Responsive facilitation; 3) Reality-based learning; 4) Reflection.  Each of these key concepts will be a continuous reveiw of my courses and ways to improve adult learning in their design and delivery.

As you consider the "flipped classroom" ensure you have a postive attitude and willingness to accept some hurdles along the way.

Will be well worth the price to ensure student learning for adults.

Our university has recently started a "flipped classroom" with online lessons and then a classroom for adult learners to actually do activities like "design" in the classroom and study at your own pace at night.

This is slighted modifed from the the EL 104 course but many of the discussions on organization and facilitation are all important to student learning.

Recommend the course.  Great discussion on embracing technology and key issues facing teaching the Millenial Generation of Learners today.

During this module the sample syllabus provided a guide and know each of us has experienced in our own education of DL at various institutions the good, bad and ugly. I found this allowed to adult student who also worked choice to when they could best complete the work. Guidance… >>>

Kent, Agree with totally with your comment and how the investment in classrooms are so important and the time to think about how you will move and interact with the students. Technology also comes into play in the classrooms also.
The preparation and time allocated for the classroom arrangement as this module suggest is so important to student learning. The dynamics are often driven by the classroom scheduled or given to you at the start of the year. Adjustments and creativity to use the space provided always come into play.

I find the course syllabus as the key to many of the discussions posted: late assignments turned in, student motivation, etc. I am a student and found one of the best syllabus seen allowed adult student choices in work with each one have a point value and out of all the choices you needed 40 points to complete the work. The student could choose to write papers, find 5 websites that supported the material discussed, post online discussion similar to what we are doing here. The key was the student had a choice and each choice empowered the adult learner… >>>
