I never considered the use of rubrics in regard to each specific objective.I'm anxious to try that in the next online class that I develop.

 

I never considered a dynamic syllabus to links to specific items in the online course.  We have a set syllabus created by our student information system, but an additional document could be create (and I've done this before) a course outline with those specific integrated links.

 

Use the same learning objects.  Video or audio should not be the primary or only way to communicate information to the students.  Create a database of learning objects and be sure to share with other instructors.  Don't make one module longer than the other; split up into 2 different modules.

 

Navigation, interaction with peers and the instructor is the most important aspects of student success.  The chat feature might be used well in small groups but not for the entire class.  Be quick to respond to requests or issues.  Be sure that technical support is available.

 

Same kinds of students are in a face-to-face classroom as in an online class.  As the instructor be aware of those personalities and manage interaction to someone personally in an email to them only.  I would say remember FERPA in interacting in forums and be encouraging in every response.

 

I like the idea of summarizing the end of a particular forum by the instructor.  I had never thought about the issue of a synchronous interaction in chat being an issue for poor readers and those who don't type very effectively.

 

It's important that students know that you have expertise in the subject matter and the facilitation of online classes.  Be quick to express and resolve any issues you see with students off topic and controversies with students.  I have a bio in all my online classes, but will be sure to edit that to credentials then experience.

 

Creating an orientation, implementing chats, facilitating getting students virtually together with zoom or google hangouts would be a way to engage the students into a community of learners.  Stating the kinds of activities along, time frame for getting instructor support and technical support would be paramount in putting novice online learners at ease.
