Diagnostic assessment is used to evaluate a students knowledge about the course being taught before teaching the course. Formative assessment is a ongoing assessment used within the course framework to see how students are progressing in the course. Summative assessment is used near or at the end of a course to see if the students learned the course completely and if not what did they miss and how to correct in future courses.

The assessment tool you choose must be researched completely so that it will enhance the learning not hinder it. It is important to have feedback from students so that you can make any changes necessary next time you utilize the tool. Students have different learning styles therefore the assessment tools you choose should match students learning style.

Keeping your modules consistent and the lines of communication open are important. Having students and peers review your lessons and make comments so that you can make changes that will benefit your students and you.

As an instuctor I have many roles to play to become a good facilitator to my students. Feedback from students will determine if I am presenting my lessons properly, and what changes I need to make to improve my teaching capabilities.

Asynchronous and synchronous teaching are important ways to teach your courses, but they must be organized so that students can easily obtain the materials. I will be using both methods with my students. 

Technology tools are essential tools for teaching and interacting with students, as long as they are used in a manner that allows each tool to be used effectively. 

Need feedback from multiple stakeholders and not just rely on students feedback. This will give you opportunity to revise your courses.

Assessments are an important part of the teaching process which includes formative,summative,self and peer assessments. Rubric grading is something I need to explore so that I can better my online teaching. Getting specific feedback from students will help identify what I can strengthen in my courses.

It is important to use all of the web based technology to keep students participating in online discussions. Utilize scaffolding so students can learn from prior knowledge, building a dynamic syllabus is important.

Learn how to use a holistic assessment for students and that testing should encourage student to engage in various learning methods.
