Students are already using ChatGPT. I'll start introducing its use officially in my course. I'll try to include ChatGPT as a potential virtual tutor. Guide students to produce prompts on the platform that support them to better understand the concepts. Then ask GPT to produce a few examples and then practice exercises with their results.

A major positive impact of using ChatGPT is that students can study at their own pace, according to their learning styles, and at any time, i.e., the technology is available 24/7. All above has the potential to improve students' academic performance. However, the negative side is that it also has the potential to diminish students' critical thinking skills if they rely on technology for everything they are going to do, or if they use it to do their work rather than as a support tool.

I think that in mathematics we can use ChatGPT as a virtual tutor. Explain to students in simple words the concepts, give them examples, and give them exercises to do. Since it adjusts to different learning styles, it could help students understand concepts that are difficult for them in different ways and connect those concepts to real life so that they can find more meaning in them.

if we keep in mind that students are going to use AI, and we direct them in the right way to do it, making them see the benefits but also the risks, we will create future professionals who can be critical in the use, management, and analysis of information.

All students have reasons why they want to learn a subject. By understanding these reasons and using strategies that engage them, I can keep students engaged and motivated to learn.

Building rapport with students will help students become more involved in the learning process. We can use verbal and non-verbal strategies to do this and in that way get students to trust us and take ownership of the learning goals of the course. I must review my attitude throughout the course because the level of energy with which I present myself is transmitted to my students. After the middle of the course, I must “REFOCUS” with the strategies learned.

I will look for new ways to learn my students' names. Maybe create a name tag that besides their name says one word about their background and one word that talks about something important to them. I will greet all my students each day of class and connect with the things they mentioned to me that first day. I will create ways to encourage them and recognize their accomplishments at different points in the semester.

Teaching adults is very different from teaching children or teenagers. Adults are more motivated to learn so they need more specific information about how the course works, the dates, the objectives, punctuality, etc. This information leads us to be more explicit in each subject's syllabus and in the course's introduction. It is important that students can perceive in me the accessibility of being a listener to any concerns they may have. I must be responsive to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds, languages, and cultures, and plan my classes accordingly. Group work can foster a need for belonging in… >>>
