What are some ways to address the issue of peers that are non-compliant?

I'm understanding some of the general principals but the real test will be when I apply this in real life.  Wondering how an instructor learns to be an online instructor?  I know I will need the same support, feedback and interaction from our supervisors that students receive from us  in order to be competent and improve my skills as I move into the new arena of online instruction.

Instructors must be familiar not only with the content of the course but with their individual course managment system.  They need to be proficient in not just electronic content delivery, but in ways to monitor students progress throughout the course.  I've taken online course previously and understand from the student's perspective, but I am recognizing being an online instructor requires an entirely new set of skills!
