Sexual assault dynamics, behaviors and consent are focal interests. VAWA crimes definitions and safe options for bystander intervention are equally important.

 

Title IV and VAWA policies regarding conducting investigations, roles in disciplinary hearings and investigations, and rights of complaintant procedures.

 

Responsible employees and Title IX coodinators responsibilites to students and employees to help provide a safe environment free from sexual harrassment, sexual assault, sexual violence, domestic violence and stalking; and what to do when incidents happen to resolve or help however they can under VAWA, Clery's law and Title IX.

 

Four cornerstones of instruction by instructors: Expertise, Empathy, Enthusiasm and clarity.

 

REFOCUS: Recognize, Empower, Focus, Objectivize, Commit, Unburden, Surprise: A strategy to combat the mid-course slump where students and teachers lose interest, lose focus on the course.

 

Keeping class from being too boring and unengaged. Using various tools to distract and interact with students at the beginning of class are great ways to encourage learning. Keeping competition, used as a engaging tool, to group settings in order to prevent students from feeling less adequate or not smart enough to compete one to one.

 

Extrinsic needs to intrinsic needs of students in learning environment for retention in program and succeeding in learning.

 

Vary teaching methods throughout classtime and keep instruction/demonstrations to 10-15 minutes to allow maximum retention of materials covered.

 

Student comfort in class settting and expectations for course.

 

Being prepared and consistent with teaching students. Planning ahead of time to efficiently teach the course to students.
