It's important to motivate the students. Being prepared and knowing your material is a must base line. 

I intend to engage students with career anecdotes that relate to what the current lesson is. 

Care about your students and help them be succesfull

It is important to understand students to meet them where they are at as they all come from different places in their life. 

The goal is to include all learning methods into the lecture

It is important to introduce yourself first - and then follow up with student's introductions. 

Being prepared is a must   - whether a novice or a seasoned instructor. 

Lead by example - students cannot be expected to be on time and paying attention if the instructor is constantly late and is on their phone
