Managing behavioral issues are perhaps one of the most challenging aspects of an educator's role. This module was helpful in describing different, potential scenarios and giving specific examples of how to address them appropriately. 

I did not realize the specific challenges of synchronous learning and now have a better understanding of the benefits/challenges of both asynchronous and synchronous modalities. I will definitely use the suggestion of having students share short biographies to help cultivate a stronger sense of community online. 

Communicating to students your background, expertise, and a personal fact or interest helps students get to know both the professor and person. This can strengthen rapport and promote positive student outcomes. 

This module was a helpful reminder about different learning styles and how to relate to each one as an instructor. The ability to hold students' attention through an entire lecture is challenging but possible through thoughtful and evidence-based preparation. 

I appreciated learning the specifics of how to motivate students as well as first day tips/activities for introductions and getting to know student names. 

Concrete goals and objectives are essential for effective instruction and evaluation. Inviting classroom environments and instructor preparedness promote student belonging, well-being and overall success.

As a nurse educator and manager, I will utilize the principles learned in this module to further enhance my instructional approach and the onboarding process of new faculty. I appreciated the information within the professional development lesson and will be more intentional in identifying developmental areas for not only myself but also faculty.
