Understanding that students learn differently, allows the instructor to use different modes to reach the student and help them retain the information.   The instructor then can provide more efficient individualized support if needed.

Linquistic diversity should be honored as a means to help provide a more equitable learning environment.  An individuals mother tongue allows the instructor to understand that they might process and understand concepts differently or it might take a moment to get a concept.  Being understanding and having patience with our students shows compassion and allows them to learn the material without having undo stress.

Cultural awareness allows the instructor to respect where the individual is coming from based on their experience with the community they are surrounded by.  Listening and being open minded allows us to value an individuals perspective.

From the students to the teacher we all are different. We come from different families, different cultures, we learn differently and we perceive and see things differently. It's important to be mindful and to acknowledge each individual as an individual. As an instructor, it is our job to be lifting, welcoming and help each student reach their potential based on their back ground.
