One important thing that I learned is that an interview is ultimately a conversation between two professionals, so it is very important to conduct research and ask appropriate questions related to the company and the job to set you apart from the other candidates.

Alumni/Graduate feedback is just as important as current student and employer feedback. It can help the department and institution in updating certain information in curriculum or seminars that departments provide to better suite the needs of the students once they are out in the workforce.

It is important to teach students not only job acquiring skills such as resume building and interviewing training, but also job retention skills such as career goal setting and salary negations so the student has a good idea and concept on what to do after he or she has already landed the job.

I learned it is important to provide students with insights from industry employers and experts to prepare them for things such as what employers are specifically looking for in that specific industry, interviewing pet-peeves, etc.

I learned that it is important to understand the mission statement of the institution in order to ensure proper focus for the students and their careers. I also learned that all departments depend on and must work with one another in order to guarantee success for the institution and the students.
