Getting to know the standards related to administrative functions, as well as interpreting them according to the institutions' own criteria.

Understanding that instituions not only need to be effective in accomplishing their mission, but they have to demonstrate it too.

Therefore, institutions have to: establish ways to measure efectiveness. This measures will help demonstrate the visiting team compliance with the standards. 

We've also learnt about the importance of writing a good description of how the institution reaches the standard/s of accreditation. 

I've learnt how important it is to understand the commission's interpretation of the Federal guidelines, and to demonstrate compliance with the commission's requirements, which don't necessarily have to be set in a specific standard. I will specially take into account the fact that institutions should provide a comprehensive response to the standards.

Although I do not come from an institution willing to be accredited, neither I work in the US, I thought this course by the INQAAHE would be extremely useful to help me get an idea of how the accreditation process in the US works, and the differences / similarities with our system.
