such a tough question...and next to impossible to accomplish.  I am looking into ways of using the phone in class, that way it has a purpose.  it's worth a try.

This was a  enjoyable course.  It managed to make soft skills become something every one should want to have.  people, workplace, soft and hard skills and emotional intelligence were quickly and effectively defined.  So was common sense.  (so i had to laugh when I missed a practice question concerning common sense, lol).  there is a survey for rating yourself as you think others will rate your soft skills.  I plan on letting a few of my peers fill this out as well (some i get along with and some i don;t) just to see and help improve my soft skills… >>>

We are currently using some of the alternative assessments, but are not grading them.we use presentations and role playing. We do use reflections, which is a small percentage of overall grade, but do not have a designed rubric for it. The journaling project allows for an overall summation of the project, which we use to make evaluations of our program. We do use observation, and grade skills 4 times throughout the course. After this course I will look into ways of improving our observation assessments.  I also think I would like to include a few more assessments, first as classroom… >>>

Module three of this topic seems to be more in line with flipped classroom.  It basically follows everything that i have read outside of this course on what technology to use in flipped classrooms.  For more, see "flipping the college classroom" and "flipping 2.0". I was following along with interest until the session bogged down with technology I will probably never adopt not adapt to my program.  Kinda disappointed yet trying to keep an open mind as to where I might use  just one thing. I do however like the idea of portfolios, and am letting my brain think how… >>>

This module has helped me get a better understanding of rubrics.  I guess I have needed to see them thirty times to come to an understanding  and the idea of verbs. I believe this will help rewrite our practical exams so there is less instructor interpretation.

What an interesting idea.  I can already see potential just in utilizing pre-recorded lectures. Not having to lecture in a hands-on learning class, imagine the possibilities.  The challenge now is which class to flip, and how to make students, oops, I mean shareholders, accountable.   Knowing that students have a tendency not to do homework, no matter how simple it is, that will be the real dilemma.

Found two good books "Flipping 2.0" by Jason Bretzmann and "The flipped classroom" by Jackie Gerstein, Ed.D

This can be quite the challenging course.  In education and business today critical thinking is a buzz word, but I know that until now, I did not truly know what critical thinking entailed.

It is important to note that this class confirms that many students feel entitled to an education, but have little experience, and there fore little desire to be challenged.  I appreciate that  the information has given me new ways to question my students and also new ways to make sure my information comes across s purposeful and applicable.

Does anyone have a perferred learning assessment style quiz they like to use in class? How does this compare with one your administration uses, if it uses one? Has anyone needed to and successfully convinced their administration that this could be part of the administration/enrollment process?
