I would assign each applicant a task to perform as part of the interview process. Generally those that go above and beyond to complete the task with high standards will do the same as an emoloyee..

I have found that no matter how much experience a massage therapist has or where they have worked, most don't have the book knowledge needed to explain how a muscle contracts in detail. Ask any massage therapist how many muscles attach to the scapula and watch them struggle. My students know more about the human body by the book without a book than most licensed tharapists. I'm not sure that learning is so much generational as it is personal no matter what generation. I've seen older students learn in the same manner as younger students. I believe it is critical that insturctors identify with each students learning style and approach instruction with those styles in mind.

I have to say that even though it is good to have these standards in place and that schools are now required to continue their education in the enrollment process, I believe that steps need to be taken to ensure that students not only pass school, but to pass any state or national exam that is required for licensure and that test should be passed the first time taken. Why say that someone is educated if they can't pass an exam that determines that they are indeed educated enough to be licensed.

Is it fair to your students to meet the requirements of CIE or should you push further? I feel that each school should be required to submit to the CIE the current pass rate from the organization that administers the state or national test that determines whether the student is educated enough to obtain a license from the state. Anyone can pass a test administered by a school and all tests can be made to pass by those schools. Your thoughts...
