I found it interesting to learn how a lab can be implemented in the online setting if planned and implemented correctly.

VARK and True Colors are great resources to use for students to assess their learning style as well as personality type

There are so many multimedia resources that instructors can use in the classroom or share with their students in an online course. However, they must understand copyright laws, and even consider resources such as clip art to use instead.

Instructors have to be mindful that it can be easy to teach content based on how they themselves learn. However, that means they may only be reaching a certain percentage of students in the classroom whose learning style is similar to theirs. Recognizing that you have to develop activities and share resources that accommodate various learning styles is an example of inclusion.

I learned about the concept of scaffolding. I also find that there are many ways to introduce content to students that makes it meaningful to them. However, this also means that the instructor has to have technological skills in being able to provide these various resources to them.

Unlimited quizzes are a great idea because it not only boosts a student's confidence but it focuses on what they do know, rather than what they do not know. This is helpful for them before they take an exam.

I liked the idea of having guest lecturers who can reinforce content whether it is an asynchronous course or synchronous.

Student engagement in online courses can result in increased student retention. It is also important for online courses to be easy for students to navigate.

While Bloom's taxonomy is more of a hierarchical model, I like that Fink's taxonomy is more holistic in nature and provides student's with the opportunity to reflect on their feelings and emotional intelligence which hones in on the art of nursing.

Authentic assessments is a new term that I was unaware of. The module explains how authentic assessments are those that provide students with opportunities to apply what they learned to real-world situations. It is different from a multiple choice assessments; examples include simulation, case studies, clinical assignments, and active learning strategies such as having students make and present a pamphlet for a Community Health class.
