Active learning is not just lecture it get students more engaged and involved.

It is important to get to know your students and have them get to know you and each other as well.  This can be done through icebreakers.  I loved the idea of pictures and names to help keep track of who is who. 

I learned to make sure I am prepared for class, come in prepared and early.  I also learned to know students name and great them personally.
