Attrition management:
To manage student e-learning attrition the instructor needs to:
"Entice learners to interact with each other by responding to groups of related responses rather than individual messages, and by encouraging learners to comment on a selected learner's response."
Online instructors must know how to influence, persuade, inspire, and energize their students just as would be done in a traditional classroom setting.
"Quality online courses engage the learner in meaningful learning activities that promote the achievement of the desired learning outcomes."
"Be creative, be competent, and be personable and as a result you will be rewarded with student learning that is reflective of the effort you put forth in class preparation."
Defining how the students are going to participate in the class helps the students to see how they are going to fit into the class and what they have to do to succeed.
five major areas of focus:
Love the ideas on modeling professionalism; not acting like the smartest person in the room; being prepared for class, arriving early & showing excitement for the topic; and professional development.
