Accreditation in higher education can be intimidating to those unfamiliar with the ins and outs of the process and the cultural nuances of their accrediting commission. Knowing how to read and interpret accreditation criteria and how to express what your institution does in the context of the standards can bring the process back to what is supposed to be—a collegial process during which an institution reflects on its administrative and academic policies and procedures and communicates to a group of peer evaluators how what they do meets the terms of the standards set by their accrediting commission.

One of the most challenging tasks you will face as an instructor is how to set up an evaluation system that will allow you to accurately assess the progress your students are making. As an instructor your responsibility to assess your students is great, because your students are learning knowledge and skills they will be using in their career field.

 To engage the students further, you could have students role-play as patients or use similar activities that allow the students to be more physical with the text - directing their attention to the course content in alternative and more interesting ways.

Developing within students the ability to analyze situations and then transfer their knowledge and skills to solve problems. When students are able to do this it becomes an "aha" moment for them. "Aha" moments serve as motivators for continued study and effort.

Observe the teaching styles of other instructors is good so you can see different approaches to teaching while developing your own instructional style. By observing other instructors, you can see how they practice student management, instructional delivery, and content selection. Research has shown that an instructor's personality can have a major impact on the retention and progression of student learners.
