Active learning, while preferable, isn't always easy to implement for myriad reasons.

It was a good reminder on the importance of techniques to keep students interested on the topic.  Interested students are more likely to learn and retain information.

This lesson reinforced the importance of personal relationships both between the students and the instructor and their fellow students.

I liked the idea of showing up in class early to talk with the students- it get's your focus away from worrying about what you are going to teach (the content), and helps you to start focusing on why you are teaching (the students).

I liked the idea of showing your students that you love the class and the content.  Important stuff.
