Importance of being concise and well organized.  Have a well planned course designed before starting the development process.

I have learned the importance of being concise, well organized and to have the course well planned before starting the process.

I was refreshed in how to always be prepared for on-site inpections, how to treat the inspectors and respond to their needs.

Coming from the healthcare industry it is common knowledge to always be prepared with documentation, staff education and other resources.  This will make the onsite visit run smoothly and successfully.  Also, be nice to the inspectors.  We could be one some day.

Something that sticks out for me is that as instructors we move to a more of a facilitator role while the student becomes responsible for actively learning.  I want to offer more of a participative role for the students next module.  I will also use the 15 - 20 minute breaks where the students can tell me what they have learned so far.  I also want them to break up into small groups for some problem solving.

I intend to move my lecture/powerpoint sessions to a more active discussion process as we go through the week's materials.  I will be including discussion posts to hear from the students and I will include those 15-20 minute breaks to hear from the students regarding what they have learned so far.  Finally, I want them to work in small groups on an assigned problem that they will solve.

This course has taught me two major elements that I plan on incorporating going forward.

1.  Understand the need for flexibility in my courses.  They need to work around the students' needs and understanding.

2.  Use diversification in each course to help students build their competency.  Not just reading assignments, PPTs and tests, but two way discussions, outside articles of interest, projects, field trips, real life examples, and so on.
