An advisory board should actually advise and not just show up for the formal meetings. Often times, the board members are only aware of developments during the actual meeting. The board to be consistently up-to-date, so they have time to give feedback and share expertise.
I learned the benefits of both synchronous and asynchronous discussions. The hybrid model can create a lively connection, while still conforming to student's personal schedules.
I learned that students crave intellectual interaction from faculty and fellow students. Also, being able to be a contributor is important.
I learned that more people are kinesthetic learners than I originally thought!
Emotional intelligence is about how we perceive others and understand their situation. We need to open ourselves to other's situations and perspectives to have true empathy,
Some leading is innate, but some requires being attuned to the needs of your constituents. I feel being empathetic, as well as, strategic is important to being a good leader.

Career Ed Lounge is embedded in over eighty professional development portals serving the career and technical education community. Performance Groups in the Lounge are integrated with related learning opportunities offered on these portals. With a few exceptions, Performance Groups are also publicly available to any member of the Lounge to maximize peer-to-peer learning and performance outcomes.
