I learned that instructional systems design is about aligning course goals, content, activities, media, and assessments so the online learning experience is clear, engaging, and effective. I also learned how to use graphics, animations, and other media strategically, while making sure the course is built around sound design principles and well-defined course specifications. I intend to apply this knowledge by planning my online courses more carefully, checking that each activity supports the learning objectives, and choosing media and design elements that improve understanding rather than distract from it.

I learned that a well-designed online course needs a clear and consistent structure, supported by a sample syllabus, guiding questions, and effective assessments such as quizzes, exams, and model answers. I also learned that questions can help students stay focused and complete assignments more successfully by encouraging deeper thinking and clearer direction. I intend to apply these ideas by organizing my course materials in a predictable format, using a strong syllabus as a guide, and designing assessments that give students timely feedback and help them understand what is expected of them.

I learned how important it is to choose learning activities that match the course goals and keep students actively involved in an online environment. I also learned how traditional classroom instruction can be converted into online learning through thoughtful use of questioning, readings, guest lectures, and both synchronous and asynchronous discussions. I intend to apply these ideas by designing activities that encourage student participation, using online tools to support interaction, and creating a balanced mix of live and self-paced learning experiences.

I learned that a quality online course must be well organized, easy to navigate, supported by effective learning technologies, and designed to promote meaningful intellectual interaction rather than passive clicking. I also learned that clear structure and consistency help students understand expectations and stay engaged throughout the course. I intend to apply these ideas by designing my online courses with a simple layout, clear weekly modules, and interactive activities that encourage students to think, participate, and learn actively.
