This is an excellent review of the types of test questions you can use and when the best time to use them. I also liked the part about preventing cheating, which has become a problem. People can't understand how the student has such good grades on their classwork but can't pass a state certification or explain anything about what they are learning.
I have learned that having multiple-level lesson plans with planned questioning will help keep the students engaged and on task.
Technology is not my friend, as I am not technologically competent. Therefore, this lesson has been precious in understanding why I need to learn to be better at incorporating technology into my classes.
I like bell ringers and lessons with hands-on experience or projects. I learned long ago that lectures are not the way to go. I also try to share real-life nursing experiences with my lessons.
This was a great refresher on the different personalities I deal with on a daily basis in the classroom and what the diagnosis means and how I can accommodate them.
As a nurse of 16.5 years who teaches health science, I have never heard of some of these disabilities, and this was very eye-opening for me.
I learned about all the different disabilities I have never considered since I have not encountered them in the classroom. I also learned how we can better accommodate these students so that they have more positive educational outcomes.
I guess I have never really thought about the process of accommodations for a disabled student. I also did not know that there was supposed to be a meeting among everyone about this disability. I have never been included, but since my classes require physical and theory work, I really should be.
One thing I guess that I never paid attention to is the fact that even though they have a learning disability, it doesn't mean that they are not intelligent; they just process things differently.
I loved the idea of writing down the mistakes you make from year to year and reading them before the beginning of each year.
