Activity

Regular stretching can work great Megan. My challenge has always been trying to find the time to do it. I have found that doing small simple stretches at my desk, during short breaks, has been the best solution.
I like the idea of creating a life management schedule - and doing so once a semester. I think other instructors could benefit from this method too. Thanks for sharing Douglas.

It sounds like you have eliminated most of your stressors Andrea.
Yes, reading it will be key Adrianne. But there are some alternatives. Some online planners allow people to log in from any internet location. So if you have access to the internet where you teach, you may be able to log in there. Alternatively, if you have access to the internet through your mobile phone, that could be a second option.
Yes, drawings are harder to grade than text-based exams. Often, there is an element of subjectivity that comes into play that can make grading a challenge. Trying to formalize grading criteria in advance of your evaluation may speed the process.
You are right James. Every once in a while, it's nice to experience the feeling of accomplishment, even if we're not working on a priority task. Throwing in those little rewards can work great - and help us chip away at smaller tasks too.
Yes, providing students with an outline is a great technique for grading. It also helps your students organize their thoughts around course content.
This is a great list Gardner. Even if you are only able to make a few of these things happen, it could make a big difference in the way of coping with stress.
This sounds like a great plan Diana. Sleep, walking and talking to friends are all effective coping mechanisms. Even if you only have time for one of the three, making it happen can make a significant impact.
This sounds like a great plan Brad. You might try combining your personal to do list with your professional one. That way, you can see everything all in one place and strike more of a balance between both types of tasks.
