I learned that engaging not just some, but all students is crucial. All students should feel equally welcome and seen.

The potential challenges are student participation. Working with high schoolers, it is hard to get them to open up about things and participate in conversations. Talking is a huge part of SEL and it will jus take some time.

At my school, we currently have SEL Fridays. We have a curriculum that we use and teach a small group of students an SEL Lesson every Friday.

SEL means social emotional learning. I believe that it helps students become well rounded, well adjusted young people. Kids don't just know how to be emotionally ready for life, it needs to be taught .
