Getting to know your students is very important to be able to gain report with them and build forms of communication and relatability in the classroom setting.
This part of this section that stuck out to me talked about working with different students int he class who may speak up themselves or getting others to speak up.
Be enthusiastic about your topic. Let students help determine where the class goes. Do not try to force where the topics go.
Its important to understand students have different backgrounds and knowledge of the topic. Getting to know your students can help you use the information they know.
The importance of recognizing people are individuals and need to learn in different formats. These learning styles need to vary throughout your course.
It's important to let students share a little about themselves and also for you to share about yourself. This allows the students to relax.
I learned the importance of showing up early to the class. Also the importance of planning ahead and planning out the entire class schedule/syllabus. The syllabus creates a tone for the classroom.
This model was a great reminder of how to present yourself to students. Making sure to be a professional, motivate your students, and be excited about the subject being taught were the areas that stood out the most to me.
