We assess theoretical info and skills based performance.  They complement each other.  Teaching of theory is interactive and dynamic, formative assessments are part of dissemination of information.  Skills performance has a very specific format and involves discussion, skills lists, video and personal demonstrations, individual and group practice, debriefing and finally a summative evaluation of performance.  This multimodal approach is meant to engage the student in active learning

 In our last PAC meeting, I did a presentation of our curriculum and goals and objectives, it went well!

There are tools that can be used to guide formative assessments (weighting, etc.)  Industry standards are set by CH74 and enhanced via our community partners and boards.

Working backward from a targeted standard listed in the framework to determine learning objectives and then breakdown them l into smaller bites where the teacher can check for understanding through ongoing and adaptive summative assessments. Following this pattern until the learning objective is met and mastered by the student, utilizing various adaptive approaches.

Aligning program standards  and objective both internally/externally and vertically and horizontally enable maximization of the student experiential learning process.

Professionalism, teacher roles and image matter and need to be considered with care.

I am learning so much.  High quality CTE is more than teaching a skill, it's about building relationships, and helping students on their path to becoming.  It is purposeful and defined by knowledge, skill and industry.
