i find the use of rubrics the most useful of all when it comes to grading. the helpful point for me is that is keeps me me to be more objective when considering the grading points and to track student progress. it took me awhile to be happy with the with rubrics that i developed, but now that i have them. i really enjoy using them.

I find that one way to build online community in a online learning environment is to have group/team assignments. It also helps to assist the more quiet individuals to become more engaging in the discussion process.
I require my students to communicate with me frequently through technology. This activity prepares them to deveop their communication skills through these methods and developing proper writing skills and avoiding texting language.
i often find when blending technology or using technology in an acadmic setting it is important to ensure that students are comfortable with the use of that specific technology through an orientation prior to the class. many of my students, even the younger ones find online learning a difficult process without it.

I have found that using integrated media in the online learning experience has been most helpful for me personally, particularly when it is interacive, i.e., film clips that require responses.

In one situation, I taught a course online in which we used web conferencing technology for students to watch the lecture and ask questions directly. It was one of the most thrilling classroom situations I have ever taught. I was a combination of the chat feature but also a lecture feature.

The difficulty I have with online learning has to do with academic integrity. I know a large number of people who have taken online courses and have cheated either with exams or papers. I am very interested in learning and working with online learning, but I am just uncertain about this aspect of it.

The students I work with tend to be a paradox. Most people assume that younger people these days are computer literate. However, this is often not the case with my students. The structure suggested in this module to enhance online learner for these students is ideal because it would make it easier for them once they have had some sort of hands on orientation to computer skills and online learning.

i believe that the separation of duties, especially in the area of testing has especially helped at the facility where i teach. we use an on-line administered entrance exam that is proctored by a different department than admissions. it has worked very well for our facility.

i think the comparison between schools is especially important to emphasize, especial in smaller areas when faculty from one school leaves that school and is hired to teach at another. The best "policy" is to remain positive about the current school, but not to discuss the previous employer.
