I have seen other teachers have a curriculum map that changes every year, learning about why this is normal has been helpful. Skills USA as a CTSO has been great in my experiences for expanding competencies and leadership skills. 

One Idea I use for formative assessments is Bingo Game, I will hold up a part or ask a question about a part and have students write the answer down on white board and if the part in question is on there Bingo board they get that box. I get to see if they know the part or what the part does.

Goals are important ,giving a destination so as to not get lost throughout year. Goals set by students will increase there interest as well motivation.  learning about rubric uses and how to access and evaluate them is very useful to teachers and students.

Safety is the most important part of having a successful classroom. Knowing you need to watch students at all times and not take it for granite that they know what to do correctly and will not goof off.  One example when teaching Auto class we require a safety lift check before you can lift vehicles by an instructor, if you fail to look at all 4 lift points and vehicle falls from lift there could be injuries or even death. 

PBIS will be a great resource. You do not know what there home life is like. I remember growing up in a city environment and seeing all kinds of different home life actions in play when I would go to a friends home.

The usefulness of a Mentor in the first 2 years will be very important. Career changes from professional Technician to Teacher is going to be hard and do not want to try alone.

Understanding the importance of not being students new best friend, safety is first priority in the classroom and out of classroom. Professionalism and accountability are important

The Course so far has been interesting. Learning about Perkins funds and were they come from , Programs of study, and General ACTE info.
