The family does not need to be verified if: The family size is reported as two with a single, divorced, separated, or widowed parent; or The family size is reported as three with parents who are married or are unmarried and living together. And for independent The family size is reported as two if the student is married; or The family size is reported as one if the student is single, divorced, separated, or widowed.
