About me

Currently completing my terminal MFA in Graphic Design at SCAD with anticipated graduation in Summer 2012. I have been teaching as an adjunct instructor at IADT San Antonio since the summer of 2008.

I serve on the board of AIGA San Antonino as Education Director and also am affiliated with AAF San Antonio.

Graphic Design is not a profession, but a lifestyle and way of thinking. I bring this position into the classroom and try to infect my students with the same passion for this approach. Being a creative professional requires a certain passion in order to do it well.

Interests

aiga • design thinking • designing for the public good & social awareness

Skills

10 years as a design professional • 4 years as design educator

Activity

Agreed! I have always felt inadequate as an instructor when it comes to adults with special needs or adults with diverse learning issues...

I am in love with my profession as an educator and measure my success by the success of my students and feel confident in my teaching methods. However, even the best teachers can improve. This course really made me step back and think if I can do a better job with communicating new ideas and assessing student success.

Education is a challenge when all walks, personalities, and skill levels must be addressed and this course reminds even the veteran professor of this.

I find it helpful to create a syllabus that outlines what is going to be done every week as far as discussions, in-class, lab and homework. I also write this on the board before the student arrives to remind them.
