Demonstrating to the student that there exist real world applications of what we learn can reinforce the usefulness of gaining knowledge set forth by the curriculum. 

There are many differences between generations, which are important to know since I have students from so many different age groups. I may need to be more patient with a baby boomer's understanding of technology, while I might need to stay on top of a millenial's work ethic.

Students appreciate when the instructor creates and uses effective learning aides, like guided notes, mnemonics, and scaffolding. These all make the learning and retention easier for the pupils.

Students must be shown why and how information is relevant and applicable to their future careers. Otherwise, their brains will filter out information it doesn't deem useful enough so it can make room for more useful knowledge.

There are many different ways one can process and store learned material. By using a variety of delivery methods, the teacher can ensure they give everyone a positive learning experience.

By using concrete information, we can come up with abstract solutions to problems. Math and Engineering are two fields where being versed in these concepts is very useful.

Gamification elements can increase student engagement. We have many tools to use, like XP, guilds, and boss battles. 

A varied teaching style keeps students engaged and dedicated to the learning process. Everyone learns differently, and you must try to reach as many students as possible.

Learn names quickly, students will feel valued.

Make a syllabus detailed so it will answer many common questions from students.
