Activity

The most important thing that I learned in identifying facilitation methods is that there is no right or wrong way to teach. The student is responsible for their own learning.

I learned that whether the course is synchronous or asynchronous, the content must be organized in a way so students can navigate it quickly. While both methods have disadvantages, maintaining consistency is key.

In this module I learned that in order to make sure the right technological tools are used, an instructor must conduct proper research to solidify it aligns with the content of the material to be learned.

One must be highly organized to keep and maintain all communication from learners.

I have learned the importance of maintaining student engagement in an asynchronous environment by making sure to provide a well detailed discussion topic that will peak student's interests and communication within each other. The question/topic for discussion should be well designed. I have also learned that it is always the responsibility of the educator to design such questions.

In this module I learned that in order for a student to be able to identify the teacher/instructor is knowledgeable in their area of expertise, it is essential to post a brief biography of themselves. This is essential as it can build a strong relationship with them.

I have learned that attention to detail is extremely important. Engaging with the students is not enough, it actually consists of the entire though process of the learning experience through the eyes and mind of the student, especially in discussion topics where students may easily veer off the subject.

In this module I learned that there must be consistency throughout the course. Staying clear, organized and consistent in the e-learning process.

I learned the difference between chats which are used in real-time synchronous versus posted discussions which are asynchronous and communication continues. Asynchronous discussions are optimal as they enhance the student's critical thinking skills. I also learned that examinations should only be taken once and immediate feedback to the student is imperative as the information is fresh in their mind.

With this module I learned that in order to for students to retain information, the instructor must be able to engage the student with material they can use to better comprehend the subject. All lessons, activities, quizzes and other learning material must be organized in a way that the student is able to follow chronologically.
