Experiential learning experiences are valuable and we should consider including more job shadowing for a few of our programs.  Hosting networking events to help students practice professionalism and their elevator pitch is also something I would like to plan for the near future.

The relationship between Admissions and Career Services can strengthen the outcomes for both the students and the institutions by finding the barriers to employment students face early so they can be addressed.  Creating Action Plans for those students in particular seems to be a good starting place.

Relationship building is key with all groups.  Finding ways to connect with each group will have an overall positive effect.  Many of the strategies mentioned are already in place at my institution (PAC meetings, Career Fairs, marketing to employers via newsletter, and utilizing social media).  An area we are focusing on recently would be engaging Alumni in different ways.  We already have alumni as guest speakers and recognize their success through Job Cards and Grad Spotlights, I may explore incorporating them as mentors and conducting mock interviews for all programs.

Working more closely with Admissions to learn more about each students' career goals and making sure students are aware that career services begin on the first day and not their final semester.  This will also assist me in determining student barriers and helping them overcome them through various means to clear the path to their chosen career.
