Do your students respond to email from the college? Frequently, they filter them out or simply don't check campus email. Have you tried texting? This seems to be the preferred social media for many of this generation. How often do your students chose to use the available professional services?
How do you do that, Patricia? Observation, survey, etc? How reliable are the results? Why is this important?

What has your institution learned from this experience? How would you go about evaluating what happened and how to improve?

Be careful about acquiescing too quickly when a student expresses disappointment or disagreement. Often these situations offer a great teaching opportunity. The students dissatisfaction may be based on inappropriate perceptions. In these circumstances, you can help the student develop a broader perspective and understanding of why policies and procedures are put in place.
At a small campus you probably don't need surveys to find out what's happening. If not done properly, surveys can, at best, be a waste of time and, at worst, actually do harm.
Since you have such a small population, are you able to make strong personal connections with your students? Have you made suggestions to the faculty about issues you have uncovered?
Is this the Noel-Levitz product? I'm glad to hear that you are able to use the survey results in a positive way. What sort of changes have you made in your teaching methodology as a result of the survey? Do department heads use the results of this survey to provide guidance to the faculty? Are results ever part of a performance review?

I like the idea of the office cell number on the student ID. How often do they use the number?
Do you visit each class room each day? When do you go and what do you do when you're there?
Who is responsible for planning and delivering the in service sessions? What sort of results do you get from your phone calls and what do you do with the information you get from them?
