I never really gave thought to the "security" during instruction. I do cover some of the ways to give students security but will be thinnking about it more this semester and incorporating some of the ideas. Any one have more ideas??

This has made be think about being more aware of all 4 of these things in my classes. I do feel that I include some of these things but some need more thought put in to them. Making sure of the non-threatening environment will be one thing to work on. To give more short quizzes may also be something new for me to add. I also need to incorporate more extra-curricular activities in some classes.

One of the things that I would incorporate into my written assignments is the idea that you should correct a little at a time and not too much because it may have a negative affect on the student. It is good to help them find their strengths in writing to give them confidence and the desire to inspire. You should also identify 2 or 3 key weaknesses that the student can then work on improving. Any other god ideas out there??

In seeing how 2 and 3 year old children are able to use phones and have their own tablets, etc. Most of the skills we are requiring now in the career world will be simple for them growing up with so much technology. What will things be like for them in their careers/futures???
I found this statement thought provoking (from the tips to improve EQ under manage your emotions), Start with a plan to motivate the group and the more you manage emotions the less need you will have to manage behaviors. I am going to try to work this in to my new semester the end of January but not quite sure on how to get it started...any ideas??

I found the section on Extra Credit helpful. I have used extra credit and had students achieving 107% and others who were able to pass without doing other assignments. I now need to re-assess this and have an explaination for  why the extra credit it not raising their grades to pass.

I find these three areas to beof greatest signifigance when preparing for and teaching a class. The more experience the better too!
I have had students that just do things and disrupt to get your attention. Once they have your personal attention they are fine. However, they cannot always have your undevided attention. On the other end, the student who constantly needs your approval and reinforcement that they are doing everything correct can be just as much trouble.
I have found that there are people who work better with noise/loud music, etc and others that need quiet. How do you balance these out in a classroom?
In my class I had a student that just could not keep up with the expectations no matter how I tried to help or encourage and I felt helpless.
