I was able to learn more about the meaning of the Gramm - Leach - Baily Act with this Act the instituion must explain their information sharing practices to their customers.  So when talking to a student  I will be able to explain this information to them. 

I learned that if I decide to become a student I should not acess my own file I should always go through the proper channel to do.

I have learned educational records can be released to parents if the student is deemed as dependent by the IRS, written consent or  by alcohol/drug use. So when speaking with a student about the privacy of the record I will now know what to say. 

I learned that a student cannot demand immediate access to his/her educational record. We have up to 45 days from the time the student makes the request however the student can appeal the process and the appeal will be reviewed.
