About me

I have been a CPC for 25 years and this is my first time instructing a course. I am extremely excited to start this new phase in my career. When I'm off my husband and I love to go camping with our 2 dogs( Izzy-a 13 yo cairn terrier and Luger-a 4 yo mini schnauzer, they are worse than kids) and we both love fly-fishing ( even though my husband is way better at it than me :) ) I have 3 grown adult children that I also love hanging out with, but life happens so I don't see them much.

Activity

WOW.. I didn't realize how many different styles of students I will be contending with on a daily! Again, great tips to handle most situations. I wrote those down in a notebook to keep handy..just in case. I agree with Juanita, there will be many daily challenges woth e-learning, but again the school has great tips to de-escalate a situation or type of student or on the other hand , bring the "shy" students out of their shell and participte, gain conffidence in themselves.

I didn't know there were different teaching styles, now I'm very clear on them and how important each styles is to the student learning. Also, wording is a big thing to keep the students confidence ( which is extremely important in my view) positive feedback and constructive ( not negative) critiscm is essential to keep the student engaged. I also think that getting ALL the students engaged is going to be a big task, but the tips-to keep students engaged & postitive- given in this section were awesome!

Prior to taking this course, I didn't think about my presence as an authority, supportive etc figure. This made me realize online I have a greater responsibility to the students to be that better instructor and learn as much about each of them as I can, which in turn will make them more comfortable and myself as well.

I've actually learned alot about online instructing. I had no idea all the little pieces that needed to fit together for the BIG picture( the course) I also learned ways I can strenghten myself as an instructor so that in turn my students are engaged in the learning and can succeed at my course.
